Plugging Into Real Power

Not long ago, my daughter and I wrapped up a Costco run (because dorm snacks wait for no one) and were loading up the car when my phone rang. My husband had been sitting outside a convenience store making work calls and forgot to turn off his headlights.

The battery was dead.

We drove over, popped the hood, and my daughter got a hands-on lesson in jumping a car. Easy fix. Problem solved. And the kind of thing that sticks with you — the value of having the tools and knowledge to restore power when something stalls out.

A couple days later, I was reading through a devotional and the day’s message was about relying on God’s power — and suddenly the battery lesson took on a whole new meaning.

It’s one thing to know about God’s power. It’s another thing to plug in and depend on it.

I truly believe God wants to show up for us like that. He has the power. He has the love. He’s ready and willing to help. But we have to connect. And not just once. Consistently.

How we stay connected

I don’t rely on a single “big” connection point with God and expect it to power everything. I connect with Him daily — in prayer, in journaling, in His word. Weekly through corporate worship and mid-week conversations in our small group. And every now and then, through deeper experiences like retreats or set-apart time.

Not all of those moments are electric. Sometimes they’re quiet. But they keep the connection open.

That’s true in business, too.

You can’t expect to write one amazing blog post, publish a sales page, or show up live once and think it’s going to fuel your whole business. Staying connected to your audience takes ongoing intention and touchpoints.

Daily or weekly emails. Social posts. Real conversations. An offer that meets them where they are. Consistency is what builds trust and keeps the energy flowing.

Business Application

There’s an affirmation I’ve kept close for the past year:

“I have God’s energy, power, and love living inside of me.”

It grounds me when I’m tired or overwhelmed. When I feel like I’m running out of steam. When I wonder if I’ve got what it takes to keep growing this business.

And it reminds me I don’t have to manufacture everything on my own.
God can bring the clients.
God can give me the creativity and clarity to serve well.
God can meet my financial needs.
My part is to stay connected to the source. And take faithful action with the energy He provides.

If your audience has grown quiet or your message has stalled out… it may not be a lack of effort. It might be time for a jump-start.
